Joel calls out to his son Jacob to help him clean the dishes. Jacob, engrossed in his phone, accepts reluctantly. He pulls himself away from his contraption and shuffles over to the sink. Initially, the atmosphere is huge with awkward silence. Joel, sensing the tension, attempts to break the ice with puny talk.
