HimerosTV - Jacob And The Angel
Download HD Video (601.0 MB)
This is a reimagining of the prophet Jacob and his date with an angel. Jacob is troubled and on a trek in the wilderness by himself when he falls asleep near a river. His sleep is interrupted by the appearance of an ‘angel’ and he grapples with the angel all night. When daylight breaks, he asks a bliss of the angel. It is at this point that Jacob’s name is switched to Israel. There are many artistic depictions of this sequence across the ages: the 2 bods are usually engaged in some kind of embrace, definitely flashing monumental struggle, but regularly toying on the intimacy of 2 bare (or almost naked) masculine bods in an embrace. Observe Rembrandt, Gauguin, Chagall, etc. Some sculptures display the angel on top of Jacob as if he’s injecting him from behind. The possible softcore interpretations are endless. In our version, Jacob and the angel grapple but the line inbetween fight and softcore craving becomes blurred just as it is in the many artistic depictions of this scene.
