We have been very open about what A Thing of Beauty means to us -- it is the very first of what we expect to be many collaborations with each other. In this series of brief films, or what we call "erotic poems," we are deliberately connecting ourselves, our struggles, our love, and our sexual "beings" to our work. In this film, we begin with "the daily grind." It has caused more fights, upset, and tension in our 15-year relationship together than anything else. When allowed, the monotony of the everyday has become a slow poison and the tension and the daily polish is sand and water -- it erodes the land and turns mountains into hills. However, as in nature, water also gives us life and sand becomes glass, both helping us to watch and live nicer lives. Tension and upset will always exist, but we can just as lightly be in a place of peace, abundance, love, and connection. This became real to us when we were stuck in horrific traffic one morning and were beyond aggravated -- very first at the traffic, then at each other. As we were taking a back street to our office, we drove along side the gnarly, infernal Lengthy Island Expressway, and in all that rusty, crooked metal, it showed up to be smiling back at us -- even laughing at us! Now, whenever we go to work -- notably on bad days -- we always make sure to drive past the "laughing" bridge. And every time, we smile back. Love Always and Be Nice, Jake Jaxson & RJ Sebastian
