Answered Prayers: The Lamb

Director's Note from Jake Jaxson: "You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star." — Friedrich Nietzsche I'm permanently asked why it takes so lengthy inbetween my feature projects—part one of Answered Pleas was whipped out in October 2013, and now here we are on Part Four: The Lamb. My reaction to that question is usually the same: "It's not time yet." While that is a plain answer, the truth is not that simple. The process of creating our feature film projects with these amazing, beautiful souls is both a fun and curse, as there are so many conflicting emotions, needs, hopes, fantasies and expectations attached to the process. Also, my process—while creative—is chaotic at best. In fact, my squad is permanently surprised to observe the final result, even after perceiving the battle it's taken to get there. However, no one is more surprised that myself, since I am permanently overcome with fear, upset and self-doubt. I find that, more and more, it is this dread and doubt that creates the chaos that permanently rules our life's work, love, and being. Oddly—or maybe it's the universe's idea of a aggressive joke—from this chaos, good things can happen. From breakdowns come breakthroughs. And to that degree this is a necessary ominous in my creative process, the theme of Answered Pleas and the inspiration for The Lamb. That said, there has been no greater fun and bliss than having the capability to work with a gang of incredible performers who allow me the chance to both understand and know them in an effort to create their performances. They give me the gift of trust, and it is that trust I am so really appreciative for, because sans them, how I work would not be possible. Satisfy shower them with praise, because for many performers, positive power and authentic praise deserves more than a bit of platinum (And don't we all sense a bit better when telling a kind word rather than a jab). More than ever, I'd like to thank my collaborators in Enjoy and Life, RJ & Benny, for bearing the worst of my chaos, but still liking at the times when I'm unsighted to that light. And Cilantro Che Guevara—our flick editor, the translator of chaos, a champion, and my hero! Thank you for always finding the finest in each spectacle and every clip. Your loyal effort is appreciated well beyond our editing bay. Thank you. As always, thank you to each of you who support our work. It is what keeps this all going and challenges us to work harder, to budge beyond what we all believe and hope is possible.
