People wonder why any man would want to be a priest, notably these days, but we don't give up as much as people think we do when we join the priesthood. We live in the real world, go places, do things, have TVs, cell phones. In addition, we get free-for-all guest room and board and a personal allowance.We do take a swear of celibacy but that's mostly about not getting damsels pregnant. The fact is, our Lord didn't say that his apostles had to be celibate, and he didn't say anything at all about taking enjoyment in youthful men. They worked too rock-hard and got nothing for it. I witnessed myself following in their footsteps, and I didn't like that image. Then I looked at the priests at church. They were admired and respected, lived in a building 10 times better than mine, didn't come home sweat-soaked and tired at the end of the day. I knew they weren't sexually deserted because Jerome had my trousers off more than once and pounded my BFF Tony every opportunity he got.
